Starting October 26, 2012 the Microsoft Surface tablet (starting at $499) becomes available and it only comes with Windows 8 RT pre-installed. Windows RT is the light (tablet) version of Windows 8. Windows 8 RT is only on tablets running ARM processors, the kind that smart phones and tablets use.
Windows 8 RT will not be able to install most traditional Windows programs (apps). If you need a tablet with full Windows capabilities, you should wait for a Windows 8 Pro Surface Tablet coming in January 2013.
